Yes, corpses can float. When a person dies, their body becomes buoyant due to the gases produced during decomposition. This can cause the body to rise to the surface of the water and float. However, the specific circumstances of the death and the condition of the body can also affect whether it will float or sink. **

Corpses have a distinct smell that is often described as a combination of rotting flesh, decay, and a sweet, sickly odor. The smell is caused by the breakdown of tissues and the release of gases such as cadaverine and putrescine. The scent can be overpowering and difficult to mask, even with embalming or other preservation methods. The smell of a corpse is often associated with death and decay, and can be quite unsettling for those who encounter it. **

The burial process is often accompanied by religious or cultural rituals and ceremonies to honor the deceased. **

The length of time a corpse remains viewable can vary depending on several factors such as the embalming process, environmental conditions, and the overall condition of the body. In general, a corpse can remain viewable for a few days to a week after death if properly embalmed and stored in a cool environment. However, without embalming or in warmer conditions, the body may deteriorate more quickly, shortening the viewing period. It is important to consult with a funeral director or medical professional for more specific information based on individual circumstances. **
